Unnecessary slurs

It was just another day until Jessica wrote the dreaded tweet, about how she told of a ‘’Kaffir’’ gloating and ready to share her victorious exploit of how she made him feel small. Writing about this made me actually take time and go through a lot of the comments that where posted before I could give my two cents worth to the nation. My first stop was a blog I visit often known as just curios this blog really focuses on anything media related, and an article by one of their contributors dissected her apology. Concluding it to be nothing but an excuse and as something she made up to ‘’save face’’ after the attack she received from the masses.

Fana who wrote the article highlighted the fact that she said she constructed the tweet out of anger, meaning every time she’s angry she results to racial slurs. This broke out the old adage A DRUNK MAN SPEAKS THEIR SOBBER MIND, this making her someone who keeps the word at close range and classifies her as a mini racist. The second point Fana raised was the fact that she had a nerve to complain about a man ogling a whistle at her when she makes her money off of posing naked. Therefor classifying herself as a sex object, personally the feminist in me has an uneasy feeling to this point as she we don’t really know what happened. As well as how far the gentleman (as described by Jessica in her apology) took the comments. As there is a limit for everything no matter what the case or line of work she does.

Personally I feel her comment was unnecessary and that its people like her who mindlessly uses twitter to blab about unnecessary things and end up making statements that re-hash our country’s fragile wounds. There for setting back an entire generation that is fighting to make their own trail and leave the negative legacy that there for fathers left behind for them. Jessica in a nutshell disregarded the little brain cells that she has and posted this victorious rent all to make herself feel better. As well as to get support from her followers which she regards as brainless as her, only for her follower to prove her wrong by voicing out their disapproval. Roped in a corner and her realising the potential of losing her sponsors she squirmed up an apology that would take her out of her mess.

I wish she could read this beautiful pointers set out on Bizzcominity by Tiffany Markman who posted the following five things to watch out for on twitter. In order for celebrities’ and “twoogles” not to tarnish their brand or become extremely boring. She listed them in her own names and actually gave fun quirky names, in a nutshell her five where, don’t jump on the bandwagon of tweeting about something that everyone is tweeting about as the twittersphere tends to become one repetitive place with senseless comments from people who don’t know any better, don’t use twitter to punt yourself as like in Nohle’s case you land up being the most hated person because you told everyone how much your worth, sharing your emotional state of mind especially when it is of the negative side is unecesary and alarming to people, don’t join a clique of mean girls as this might make you exciting to follow but no one will ever expect anything of substance from you, she finally voices her last five as the twattery, described as the rampant use of twitter to sell stuff.

This is something worth taking into consideration as well as noting to avoid unnecessary slurs.

  1. DISAGREE!!
what is the aim of Twitter if not to voice out one's personal thoughts? Social media is just that : Social.

I dont agree with her racial slur but I agree with her right to voice out her thoughts because it allows others to either agree or disagree. Hence they disagreed. Had they agreed it would just voice the thoughts that they have anyway.

I refer to a story in which students from a university in the west launched a mini forum to voice out their discepencies against black students. A MINI FORUM!!

Not everyone will use social media to expose their service to the world but will instead expose their ignorance. Proudly too. But we cant hate a medium when its the people who misuse the medium itself.
